Our Journey
Our story begins in 1980, owing to the foresight of Giorgio Gianella. In that year, he connected with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). It was there where he met Dr. Paul Ichiro Terasaki, founder of the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) tissue typing trays bearing the same name. From then on, Giorgio Gianella focused on this sector and made it the heart of his business.
In 1984 Lagitre became the exclusive distributor of One Lambda in Italy, a company created in the same year by Dr. Terasaki. This step marked the company’s specialization in the supply of medical devices and related instrumentation to HLA laboratories. Partnerships with other important international brands in the sector followed in later years.
In 1992 we had the option to expand in Africa, as a result of obtaining exclusive distribution rights of products from One Lambda for this geographical area.
In 2012, One Lambda was acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific, becoming part of one of the most prominent multinational companies in the industry. Despite this milestone, which significantly transformed One Lambda’s corporate culture, Lagitre has continued to serve as the exclusive distributor for Italy and Africa of One Lambda – a brand of Thermo Fisher Scientific, building on the experience and reliability developed over many years.
Today the second generation (Guido and Gianfranco) ensures continuity and values in the family business. The three G’s of the logo (Giorgio, Guido and Gianfranco) tell the evolution of an entity that does not forget its roots and sees great opportunity in the future.
